MIA KLEIN

Mia Klein was born in Canada into a family of passionate photographers and painters. She has worked both as an editorial and advertising portrait photographer for such clients as Miramax Films, Citytv, Saturday Night Magazine, The Globe and Mail, and Playboy. Profiles on Klein have appeared in PHOTO and APPLIEDARTS. Her fine art and commercial images have been widely published around the world.

A former gymnast and model, Mia has a special affinity for shooting the body and "man in motion." She has photographed many of the great dancers of the National Ballet of Canada. Her experiences in front of the camera have informed her work behind the camera and made it better.

Mia is also intrigued by extreme athletes. She has been known to don a wetsuit and helmet and wait, sometimes for hours, in heavy waves, while windsurfers fly overhead.

Her shots have appeared as posters in Windsport Magazine and related advertising. Klein has a great love of science, nature and design. Her fascination with evolutionary biology has had a definite influence on her most personal work, which aspires to incorporate a "dynamic sensation of time."
